January 9, 2006: More Crested Butte pictures.

On Sunday, it was cloudy, foggy, cold and snowing. We did hope for a powder day on Monday, but it stopped snowing Sunday night, so today there was only about a couple inches of fresh powder on the mountain. Combined with clear skies and bright sun, that made for a wonderful day of skiing, though.

I very much like it here. The weather and the snow are good. The slopes are not crowded. The food is good and reasonably priced (unlike the base lodge ski shop where they sell a pair of gloves for $98). People are nice (I won't get tired repeating that). Anyway, I hope to elaborate more on this once I get back home. On to the pictures...

This is a view from Columbine Hill -- the only non-double-black-diamond sort-of-powder kind-of-trail today. The set of buildings immediately below is Mount Crested Butte, the ski village. Farther in the valley (to the left on the picture) is the town of Crested Butte:

And this is a view from the top of the Paradise Express lift at the end of the day. I just couldn't resist taking the picture.

This is another view from the very same point:

And this is a view of the mountain from the town of Crested Butte. (Yes, I should have brought my SLR with me.)
